So many things
by Will Entwistle
Hello… it’s Will.1
So here we go, sitting down to write the first proper note.
Ok, so being totally honest, I have about a million things I want to write about on here, but I guess I’m suffering from some good old ‘decision paralysis’
I mean, I even took farrr too long to decide which GIF to use there 👆 but we’ve been watching Younger (Netflix) lately, so I chose that one.
Here are some topics I might write about:
Getting into park running
Trying Padel
Getting into Bouldering
Going to a personal trainer
Having a dog
Love of cooking
Sourdough obsession
Not eating meat, being veggie
Going caffeine-free
Going Alcohol free for a bit
Our local refill shop
Notes on Pizza
Middle Eastern food is the best
Gaming in your mid-30s
Films we are watching
The best TV shows
Recliner seats at the cinema
Feelings on canvas bags - totes
The satisfaction of finally getting a headboard for your bed
Using old computer parts and becoming a PC nerd
Trying every project management tool that’s ever existed
Are drones worth it?
Imposter syndrome
Working hours are weird
Reframing January
Do we think in months?
Notes on motivation
Notes on ‘success’
Notes on goal setting
Notes on running a business
Removing ego from work
Setting up good processes and systems
Realising that my brain goes a million miles an hour in the morning
Notes on magnesium and sleeping
Notes on CBD
What it’s like working with your partner
Creative ideas and storytelling
Different types of creative outlets
Constant new tech needs (wants)
Work-life balance
Learnings from passion projects
Hilariously, whilst going through my notes for this (yes, I’ve started writing notes about which notes to write), one of my ideas was ‘notes on doing too many things and then not doing anything at all’, which is essentially what this is.
I want to say that ‘It’s better to get something done than leave it open-ended in the hope that one day you’ll get round to perfecting it, but inevitably never finishing it’. But it would be extremely hypocritical of me to say that.
We often refer to it as ‘Done is better than perfect’. To be honest, even that saying is a placeholder until a better one comes along. The saying literally describes itself (is there a word for that?)...
Sidenote: I asked Chat GPT, and now I feel like I could write a whole post about the idea of ‘Done is better than perfect’ (maybe it should go on the list of topics). Turns out you can describe it as ‘A performatively imperfect aphorism’. Who knew?! (apart from Chat GPT)...probably word nerds.
Anyway, I feel like I’m going to have to get used to embracing ‘done is better than perfect’ if we want to keep up semi-regular posting on here.
Let’s see how we get on.
Let me know if any of the topics sound interesting (I might start writing about some of them anyway) but I would love to know what you think?
Back soon
Will
